The Governing Council has given its approval to an agreement between the Ministry of Public Works and Planning and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) for a study of 'micro-zoning' earthquake in the town of Lorca.
This work will be part of the compendium of studies taking place since last May 11, 2011 with the Regional Government analyzes what effects suffered after the different field seismic accelerations in different parts of the city.
The goal is to decide the type of building structures in each area most appropriate, depending on the information extracted.
These studies are performed from various fields such as geological, geotechnical and structural, all included in Earthquake Engineering, but affecting a number of disciplines such as geodynamics, geophysics, Geotechnical and Construction.
The award of this grant nominative, amounting to 120,000 euros, is financed entirely through the loan that the regional administration has signed with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
