Work on San Cristobal could be completed during the next June
The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, this morning visited the church of San Cristóbal, Incarnate Step religious headquarters, which was badly damaged as a result of the earthquakes in 2011 and repeated episodes of rain last fall.
The mayor was accompanied by the Councillor for Culture, Sandra Martinez, President of the Incarnate Paso, Fulgencio Soler, and the Manager of the Foundation "Light of Images", Carmen Quintero.
The reason for it was the signing of the minutes of temporary occupation of the church, a fact that will allow the Confraternity of the Holy Christ of the Blood use of the interior of the temple to get their next processions during Holy Week.
The Mayor said that "this is great news for all Lorca, and, especially, for Step Incarnate.
After the earthquake of 2011 from the City we meet the challenge of getting the necessary funding to carry out works of repair and consolidation of this church.
Our goal is to be available to remove ingrown processions of Holy Week, and, after much effort and work in conjunction with Step Incarnate, has been achieved.
This year is no need for tents we had to enable last year to go ahead with the procession, and the images of Step Incarnate will depart from San Cristobal.

The works that are being carried out in San Cristobal have a budget of 360,000 euros, which is assumed by the Generalitat Valenciana.
The works have been completed so far have managed to consolidation of the same, focusing on the nave and in the temple area used by Step Incarnate to take its procession.
It is anticipated that work on San Cristobal continue after Easter period and will include the installation of a scaffold for the settlement of the bell tower.
According to the technical provisions, and if no unforeseen consideration, the works will be completed during the month of June.

During the next few days will be used by the Brotherhood, while reserving to the end of the work its reopening to the public in general.
