The Minister of Public Works and Planning, Antonio Sevilla, stressed the importance of Lorca Guevara Palace within civil Gothic architectural heritage in the Region of Murcia, in the opening ceremony held today after rehabilitation of the property as a result of the damage caused by the earthquake of 2011.
The palace, known as the 'House of Columns', was one of the places chosen by the aristocracy and bourgeoisie lorquina of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to establish their sumptuous residences, it highlights the facade, like a large Baroque altarpiece with four columns and center crest crowned shield of the Order of Santiago.
Inside the cloister garden distinguishes itself with columns and arches of the various rooms with furniture and decorations of the eighteenth century.
The relevance of this building from the standpoint of historical and artistic earned him declared of Cultural Interest (BIC).
Today, it has become one of the most emblematic and representative buildings of outstanding historical past of the town of Lorca.
