The Councillor of Social Services of the City of Lorca, María del Carmen Ruiz, with the Director General of the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS), Fernando Mateo, and Senior Managing Director of IMAS, Enrique Perez, attended this morning act the start of the work involved to repair facilities Senior Center located in residential Michelangelo, which was seriously affected by the earthquakes of 2011.
Note that some work is beginning immediately, extending over the next six months, and in which they will invest an expected amount of 300,000 euros.
The building that houses this day center suffered structural damage as a result of earthquakes recorded within serious damage to pillars, partitions, plaster ceilings and displacement brick sills that make up its facade.
Due to the location of the building there were some actions to proceed with the consolidation.
In parallel with the completion of this first intervention, we could call emergency, contact was made with the insurance compensation consortium aimed to determine the amount of finance required for day center rehabilitation noteworthy also that in the Property review process further damage detected in it, who made the initial estimates as to the amount necessary to repair works elevasen, so it was necessary to record such facts to the consortium, has delayed the start of the work.
The deadline for the completion of repairs is 6 months, so that, if there are no unforeseen consideration, the Day Centre could reopen its doors before the end of the year.
It may be recalled that during the period in which they run the repair as is being done to date Center users can continue their activities and workshops in the Open Center located in the Plaza Mayor of Tanners.
