Both institutions will coordinate to deploy CaixaProinfancia, the program of care for children in poverty and exclusion driven by the financial institution that focuses on attention to households with children between 0 and 16 years in vulnerable situations.
Since its launch in September 2012, CaixaProinfancia has already reached 666 children and 421 families Lorca, which translates into an investment of more than 400,000 euros from the bank.
The project is part of the various initiatives undertaken by the Obra Social "la Caixa" after the earthquake in May 2011.
CaixaProinfancia develops in major Spanish cities and their metropolitan areas: Barcelona, ​​Bilbao, Madrid, Seville, Malaga, Murcia, Valencia, Zaragoza, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
- The Councillor for Social Services, Maria Carmen Ruiz, and the director of the social integration of the "la Caixa", Marc Simon, took stock today the development of CaixaProinfancia, care program to households with children between 0 and 16 years or at risk of exclusion from the Obra Social "la Caixa" in the township.
Since the program's launch in September 2012, has served CaixaProinfancia Lorca 666 children and their families (421 households), which translates into an investment of more than 440,000 euros from the Obra Social "la Caixa" .
The project is coordinated by Caritas and CEPAIM, entities that already have this coordination in the city of Murcia, and also has the support of Caritas Interparroquial Lorca and Lorca Red Cross.
The Obra Social "la Caixa" and the city of Lorca jointly identify and analyze the spatial distribution of the situations of social vulnerability and risk of exclusion affecting children and families requiring Lorca and beyond attention to specific needs, a holistic approach that affects performance in a comprehensive manner in the transformation and upgrading of the reality of children and families.
Both institutions have defined a joint service portfolio to respond to the needs of the households served and optimize public and private financial resources for these families.
The neighborhoods are preferential action: The Vineyard, San Fernando, San Pedro, Santa Maria, San Juan, San Lazaro Ramblilla and Calvary and the upper district of San Cristobal (Old Calvary, Cabeza Piñero and Cabeza Casas Blancas), the Guadalentin across the river.
This has been followed mainly two criteria: the number of vulnerable people and situation after the earthquake.
Working with all household members
CaixaProinfancia seeks to break the line of transmission of poverty from parents to children and foster the full potential and capabilities of children, trying to ensure that, despite the difficulties, have an open door to a better future and enjoy the same opportunities as others.
This leads to the development of a work plan with the whole family.
It is a comprehensive approach to child poverty, focusing on the daily work with all members of the family unit.
The program is developed, since 2007, in the main Spanish cities and their metropolitan areas: Barcelona, ​​Bilbao, Madrid, Seville, Malaga, Murcia, Valencia, Zaragoza, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
One of the key objectives is to ensure CaixaProinfancia promotion of socio children, understanding that this depends to a large extent, their future welfare.
This is expressed in the development of five major lines: educational support, formal education and leisure, family educational support, care and psychosocial therapy and health promotion.
The Obra Social "la Caixa" also works to help improve family income and facilitate access to basic goods (food, hygiene products, school equipment, eyeglasses and hearing-aid).
Fabric alliances with social organizations Lorca
CaixaProinfancia is presented as a comprehensive project of transformation and improvement which subsumes various social actors, institutions and public authorities in each territory.
The Obra Social "la Caixa" is the driving force behind the program, while four constituencies, in constant coordination with the municipal social services, are responsible for implementing CaixaProinfancia in Lorca: Caritas in the Region of Murcia and CEPAIM, acting as coordinators, and Caritas Interparroquial Lorca and Lorca Red Cross, as associates.
Since the municipal social services by these organizations are the ones who know the specific needs of each area, the program is responsible for completing the action performed for social inclusion of families with children, and contribute to the entity deepen its genuine social action: the daily work to ensure that, as part of an inclusive process, families at risk of social exclusion enjoy a more normal life as possible.
The program proposes a model of social action, so that the various organizations, and social services to government, are responsible for identifying children and families qualifying for assistance, as well as to assess the child's needs globally .
A commitment to the people of Lorca
The launch of CaixaProinfancia in the municipality is part of the various initiatives that the Obra Social "la Caixa" is developing in the area with the aim of contributing to their recovery, with particular emphasis on children in vulnerable situations.
After the earthquake, moved the forward command post and emergency care center, while the Corporate Volunteer Team "la Caixa" Lorca moved to a truck with 1,300 kilos of food.
In addition, the financial institution has promoted an educational kit for the recovery of children affected by the earthquake and has made available to the Lorca its Affordable Housing program.
In the same vein, the Obra Social "la Caixa" 350,000 euros allocated to the recovery of War Theatre Lorca.
To this is added the contributions through the Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks (CECA): donation of 495,000 euros for the restoration of municipally owned schools of Lorca and the contribution of 30,000 euros a benefit concert June 16 2011 Old Stage Condomina of Murcia.
The collaboration between the Obra Social "la Caixa" and the city of Lorca dates back to 1996 and includes various exhibits, supports different projects and different social institutions in education initiatives.
