The Director General of Cultural Property in Lorca closing the V World Heritage Youth Forum (17/06/2013)

The Director General of Cultural Assets, Francisco Gimenez, closing Lorca morning (at 11:00 hours. Assembly Hall. University campus.) The V World Heritage Youth Forum Junior Heritage program, involving 32 boys and girls around the world and is based on the premise that education is essential for the conservation and protection of heritage, whether tangible and intangible, natural and cultural.

The Murcia region is represented by two girls from Jumilla and Yecla.

After developing the first phase of the meeting in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), since last June 9 32 youth participants from 9 countries have carried out in Lorca activities on the relationship between World Heritage and Intangible Heritage.

The activities also included a visit to rock art sites of cave-th of the Merganser, (Cieza) and wraps Pozo (Calasparra), relevant examples of conservation and sustainability in the world heritage.

We have also shown the involvement of the region in other places on the list as is the Mediterranean diet and the Flamenco.

Under the approaches 'Desire to know', 'I wish to treasure' and 'I wish to act' Young Heritage program aims to show young people the content and meaning of heritage at local, national and global, at the same time make them aware of the importance of conservation and protection.

Also, it is their goal to develop in youth the capabilities to identify, accept and fulfill their individual and social responsibility in heritage conservation, and recognize and value as the basis of identity and development engine.

The program also promotes the idea of ​​knowledge of foreign culture from the valuation of their own, fostering tolerance and solidarity.

Activities have included visits to the cities of Alcalá de Henares, Aranjuez, Madrid, Lorca, Granada and Elche, talks, presentations, panel discussions and participatory workshops where they have developed training materials generated by participants for education equity peers.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism in this forum presented an advance to the Regional Plan of Heritage, Education and Digital Content, which combine efforts and coordinated by the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage, the Directorate General of Planning and Education and Integra Foundation.

The results of this forum will be presented to the World Heritage Committee on June 20, meeting in its 37th Session in Cambodia.
