The councilors of Environment and Services City of Lorca, Melchor Morales and Angel Mecca, this morning presented the Action Plan for Sustainable Energy 2013-2020 Lorca, which has been approved by the Local Government Board under the Covenant of Mayors for local sustainable energy.
The City of Lorca and designed a plan to reduce by 20% CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by the energy produced in the municipality.
Morales explained that "this plan includes all measures aimed at energy efficiency in all areas of the Consistory of not only the City Council's own services, but will conduct awareness and sensitization policy to citizenship".
"So, there will be campaigns in schools and other educational centers, social centers to raise awareness on energy efficiency, and other campaigns aimed at mobility, promoting the use of public transport and bicycles," said Mecca, who said that " is intended to create charging points for electric cars in the city, in order to reduce traffic pollution. "
In addition, the mayor of Services has indicated that this plan has already been envisaged that all urban regeneration schemes, to be started before the end of the year, will include LED lighting and remote management type for easy programming energy efficiency. "
Similarly, the Councillor for the Environment has stated that "energy audits will be conducted in municipal buildings and public lighting, gradually replacing oil-fired boilers of various municipal buildings biomass boilers".
Angel Mecca stressed that "the adoption of this plan is part of the implementation of Local Agenda 21, and it is essential to have it approved to be eligible for any subsidy or European project in this field."
Melchor Morales stressed that "this initiative we intend the contribution to the environment and cost savings for both municipal coffers to Lorca in general."
