The Consistory Lorca reached an agreement with Caritas, Red Cross CEPAIM and these entities conduct a camp in Mazarrón, another at Finca Caruana and a summer school within Proinfancia program, which has benefited more than 600 children and girls of the town during this first course.
The Social Care Councillor City of Lorca, Mari Carmen Ruiz, reported that the Consistory Lorca has developed this summer two summer camps and a summer school where 210 children have participated Lorca or at risk of exclusion, by funding the project Proinfancia Obra Social "La Caixa".
Ruiz explained that "to carry out these activities the Consistory Lorca reached an agreement with Caritas and the Red Cross CEPAIM for these entities which were executed with the funds that facilitated the City, from the aforementioned social work" .
Specifically 58 children, accompanied by six monitors, attended from 15 to 21 July at a summer camp run by Caritas and held at the College Siglo XXI de Mazarrón, attended activities and facilities used football pitch , gym and pool with lifeguard.
In addition, 80 children participated in other summer camp run by Red Cross at Finca Caruana.
Finally CEPAIM Foundation was responsible for managing the summer school in Lorca promoted by the Consistory in July titled "Around the World in 31 days", dedicating each week to a continent to promote social skills as empathy, companionship, respect, responsibility and conflict resolution.
Participants in the summer program are pupils in primary education or at risk of social exclusion, particularly in the neighborhoods of the Vineyard, San Fernando, San Pedro, Santa Maria, San Juan, San Lazaro Ramblilla, Calvary and the high in the neighborhood of San Cristobal, and that the program also included children of families affected by the earthquake.
€ 800,000 invested in 600 children with the program Lorca Caixa-Proinfancia
In fact, these summer activities are the end of the program made Proinfancia, which have benefited over 600 children in the municipality during the first year in which it has invested over 800,000 euros in Lorca.
One of the fundamental objectives of Caixa-Proinfancia is to ensure socio promotion of children aged between 0 and 16 years, understanding that this depends to a large extent, their future welfare.
This is expressed in the development of five major lines: educational support, formal education and leisure, family educational support, care and psychosocial therapy and health promotion.
CaixaProinfancia seeks to break the line of transmission of poverty from parents to children and foster the full potential and capabilities of children, trying to ensure that, despite the difficulties, have an open door to a better future and enjoy the same opportunities as others.
This leads to the development of a work plan with the whole family.
It is a comprehensive approach to child poverty, focusing on the daily work with all members of the family unit.
The Obra Social "la Caixa" and the city also work with this project to help improve family income and facilitate access to basic goods (food, hygiene products, school equipment, eyeglasses and hearing-aid).
The project is part of the various initiatives undertaken by the Obra Social "la Caixa" in Lorca after the earthquakes of May 2011, the same day the earthquake moved the forward command post and emergency care center, while Corporate Volunteer Team of "la Caixa" Lorca moved to a truck with 1,300 kilos of food.
In addition, the financial institution has promoted an educational kit for the recovery of children affected by the earthquake and has made available to the Lorca its Affordable Housing program.
In the same vein, the Obra Social "la Caixa" 350,000 euros allocated to the recovery of War Lorca Theatre and has worked in the poster contest Easter 2013.
To this is added the contributions through the Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks (CECA): donation of 495,000 euros for the restoration of municipally owned schools of Lorca and the contribution of 30,000 euros a benefit concert June 16 2011 Old Stage Condomina of Murcia.
The collaboration between the Obra Social "la Caixa" and the city of Lorca dates back to 1996 and includes various exhibits, supports different projects and different social institutions in education initiatives.
