The Councillor for Citizen Participation Council of Lorca, Ana Maria Lidón, reported this morning that a hundred college students Mother of God Mercy of Lorca participate in the third edition of Extracurricular Activities Programme of Community Service "Lorca, I I get involved ".
Lidón explained that "specifically, students will be 2 ° and 3 ° of Secondary projects which help six NGOs in the municipality and a municipal service. So for the first time students can do storytelling in the University Library Municipal, help workshops on new technologies such as the Internet, mobile smartphone or tablet with Multiple Sclerosis Association (AEMAIII) or in accompanying elderly Red Cross. "
Moreover, as was the case in previous editions, participants can collaborate in the closet, food bank and commissary of Caritas, leisure activities intergenerational Residencia San Diego (like crafts, theater choir workshops, cognitive stimulation, games, ...) in recreational sports in San José de Calasanz nursery, or intergenerational craft workshops Alzheimer's Association Lorca.
The mayor stressed that "the goal of this program is to promote solidarity actions among young people".
After the success and the appreciation gained in the first two previous academic courses, in which there was a very positive assessment by both the school and the town hall and the collaborating institutions, this year, a new period in which the city ​​council provides, once again, all their resources to enforce a program that is beneficial to the whole society, educating students on values ​​such as altruism and service to others, showing them, in turn, the reality that certain collective living need.
Similarly this initiative promotes the culture of citizen participation and better knowledge of these students of how the society around them, various diseases and mutual enrichment which is the joint work of several different generations.
