The Governing Council has given its approval to the contract for the project design and execution of works related to urban renewal Lorca neighborhood of San Diego, which was affected by the earthquakes of May 2011.
The works, which amounts to 8,143,161 euros, consist of the renovation of roads, expansion of public and educational spaces, green areas and urban infrastructure services in the San Diego Municipal public domain.
Also held the pedestrianization of roads in order to promote accessibility and enable the connection between neighborhoods and other energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability.
The contract includes as special social for job promotion, the requirement that the contractor incorporates, at a minimum, 25 percent of workers under 30 years.
This insertion percentage calculated relative to the total number of workers needed for the execution of works.
With this, the Ministry of Public Works and Planning aims to facilitate economic development, trade and mobility, create infrastructure to ensure full accessibility and regain the overall image of the city.
The celebration of this urban renewal contract, the award of which is handled by open procedure, is part of the agreement signed between the regional government and the city of Lorca to facilitate the realization of a wide range of urban renewal activities in the City of the Sun .
Besides the works already authorized in the neighborhoods of La Viña, Alfonso X, San Jose and San Diego latter are also contemplated performances in San Fernando, San Pedro and other areas of the barrios Altos and accessibility works Lorca Castle.
The total investment of the Community for this set of actions amounted to 52.6 million euros for the period 2013-2014 under the loan signed with European Investment Bank (EIB).
