The Segura basin (CHS), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment has initiated the construction of two dams at the head of the boulevard that runs next to the hospital Rafael Mendez, to prevent siltation of drainage that channel under the old N-340, between the towns of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras.
These works of hydrological correction, which have an operating budget of 61,126 euros, will prevent the drag caused by water erosion runoff during episodes of torrential rainfalls cause collapse and overflow from the coastline at that point, with the consequent interruption and traffic hazard in the area, as happened last winter.
To prevent expensive repair these damages are to lift two masonry dams on the boulevard that runs next to the hospital, one waters above the A-7 and one downstream, with a height of five to four meters, respectively.
Its construction is expected to use a total of 420 cubic meters of masonry, 240 and 45 concrete breakwater.
In addition to avoiding the collapse of infrastructure in case of floods, the works will involve an economic benefit, as it is much less expensive to empty the solids retained by these levees desaterrar clogged drainage works.
