Jailed Lorca two individuals who stole in nursing homes posing as fake electricians (05/12/2013)

The authors posed as technicians known companies to gain the trust of his victims and access to their homes on the pretext of checking the wiring of the light

Agents of the National Police have arrested two men Lorca Spanish nationality, 32 and 34 years old, and seven suspected thefts committed in Almeria.

Those arrested were engaged in robbing homes of elderly posing as fake electricians to gain the trust of his victims and access to their homes on the pretext of checking the wiring.

In total they have taken numerous jewels and over 1,000 euros in cash.

Investigations began early last August, when it was learned through several complaints from people aged between 75 and 83 years of the existence of two individuals posing as electricians with the intention to deceive and steal from their homes.

His victims were elderly

His modus operandi was always the same, first localizaban elderly people living alone and posing as electricians known companies, had access to their homes on the pretext of checking the wiring.

While one of them entertained his victim in the lounge asking personal information, other guy recorded the rooms of the house taking over all jewelry and money located.

After conducting several investigations agents were able to identify two men living in Lorca which had numerous police records for events with similar characteristics.

Researchers moved to this city and proceeded to the location and arrest of the perpetrators of the seven thefts committed in Almeria.

The investigation and arrest was carried out by agents of the Judicial Police of the Provincial Commissariat of Almería with the collaboration of the Brigade of the Judicial Police Commissioner Lorca.

Tips from the Police

Police recommended to the general public, and especially the elderly, to be alert and never let strangers into their homes.

To avoid this, always be wary of those who call at your door offering anything, though claims to represent a public body.

The offender will use any excuse to get into your home.

Beware of technical services that have not been requested by you or your family.

Older adults may be victims of false reviewers light or gas, so they should should not open the door to strangers who seek access to the homes on the pretext of conducting a review at the facility.

In addition, identify all employees who come to make repairs, revisions or charges at home.

When you receive phone calls, never provide personal or banking information, even if they say they belong to public bodies, or home services companies argue that it has won a prize or sweepstakes.

Also, do not call phone numbers that are unknown to those who receive messages or missed calls, could discharge services you do not want, especially those phone numbers premium rate whose calls have a very high cost (usually will begin by 905, 803, 806 ...).
