The Councillor for Social Services City of Lorca, María del Carmen Ruiz, has offered a balance of actions carried out to date and are framed within the Comprehensive Social Services Project funded by contributions made to the Bureau.
The mayor noted that with this project, initiated at the initiative of the Mayor of the city, Francisco Jodar is responding to many of the needs and issues faced both by the citizens affected by both earthquakes of May 11, 2011 as by flooding in September 2012.
It is precisely for this reason that justifies the need for continuity in time to continue to respond to this situation of catastrophe that has lived the city of Lorca and which is intervening because the large number of Lorca have been affected and in some cases twice.
The mayor has indicated that the number of beneficiary families to date is 379, which means that it has directly helped over 1,400 Lorca.
Most of these families (128) are in the downtown area, while 47 are from San Cristóbal, 3 of the districts North 30 Senior 9 Districts of the districts of the south, 87 in the area between San José and La Viña, 11 of the Virgen de las Huertas and 11 Ramblilla of San Lázaro and Calvary.
Jódar Ruiz explained that the main needs met from the project were as follows:
Financial contributions for the payment of rental housing.
Financial assistance to cover basic needs.
Specific aid for the payment of basic services delivery.
Financial contributions to the punctual payment of books.
Financial contributions for specific replacement of goods.
Financial contributions to support the repair of houses.
Financial supports for dentures.
The Councillor of Social Services has indicated that it is a pioneering project aimed at care affected by earthquakes occurred in 2011 in Lorca families, coordinated by municipal social services and emerged before the existence of problematic situations that have not been able to meet with the financial aid under generated.
Throughout this period of implementation of the Draft Comprehensive Social Services for Standardization Families affected by the Earthquake in Lorca, it can be confirmed that the needs of Lorca population affected by the earthquake and in situations that did not qualify any aid, have been numerous and varied.
From the outset the project has permeated society, thus being very sued for a lot of citizens.
Proof of this is the number of features that have been made, the number of steps taken, home visits, coordination meetings, receipt of internal referrals from the different units of Social Work Center for Social Services Lorca, coordination and contact with external resources to social services, as well as the number of financial assistance approved by the Local Government Board, amounting to a total of € 359,326.41.
