Councillor of Education of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has unveiled the huge reception given the XXIX edition of the Children's Story Competition "María Fernández-Luna", organized by the Municipal Library Red Lorca and wherein participating students and Primary Education.
Montiel stated that "1,187 stories were submitted, from 16 schools across the municipality. This is an excellent turnout figure that reflects, first, the importance of the event and on the other, the ability of Lorca school to write their own stories. "
The mayor pointed out that "since 1997 the literary contest is named in memory and gratitude to the children's author lorquina María Fernández-Luna, who in 1996 donated to the Municipal Library of Lorca entire library with a large collection of children's literature. "
This year's jury is made up of Francisco Félix Sánchez Montiel, Councillor for Tourism, Education and the City University of Lorca;
Embodies Gambín Alarcón, professor of literature;
Semari Linares, elementary school teacher;
Adolfo Muñoz Levers, literature professor and writer;
Juan Jiménez Asensio, Director of the Municipal School of Art;
Santos Campoy, Cultural Coordinator Consistory and library staff of the Municipal Network.
