Councilman Environment of the City of Lorca, Melchor Morales has reported on recent actions taken within the term project called "Life Riverphy" which is being developed in our town since late last year.

This intervention in the university attended by 469 students from different parts of the Region of Murcia.

Recall that the city of Lorca, collaborating since late 2012 as a member of the Community Project beneficiary ENV/ES/000506 RIVERPHY LIFE +11 "Rehabilitation of the bed of a river polluted by heavy metals by phytoextraction technique", which is designed to decontaminate a stretch of heavy metals selected bedding Guadalentin River through a system of phytoextraction, involving the use of plants to absorb metals to remove them and then they can be used for recovery, reaching thereby reduce the environmental risks associated to uncontaminated areas, erosion rates, and the establishment of vegetation on the bed.
All this will amount to creating a new landscape redesigned for educational and recreational use.
The project, led by the Directorate General for the Environment, with the collaboration of the Segura basin, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and Lorca, assuming a total investment of 1,714,651 euros, financed with the contribution of the instrument Financial Life of the European Community.
