The Minister of Education, Culture and Universities, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, today inaugurated the 'I Jornada interdisciplinary absenteeism and dropout' of the village, framed in the ten initiatives that collaborate Ministry, consistory and schools in the locality within the Prevention Plan II.
In these days, in which nearly 70 professionals, unveiled various actions and measures in order to achieve more success in school and prevent leakage of young school system.
In fact, the region fell by 14.1 points dropouts from 2008 to 2013, 5.7 points more than the drop in the Spanish media.
To follow this trend of decline, the Region II launched the Regional Plan for Prevention, Monitoring and Control Truancy which aims to increase the number of children who successfully complete compulsory secondary education and continue their training.
"There are 53 measures that give continuity to the first Plan and reinforce the proceedings, with special emphasis on the development of initiatives at the municipal level in the schools themselves and the involvement of families and the educational community. Acting to prevent absenteeism and prevent abandonment must be comprehensive and involve all stakeholders, mainly the school community and all levels of government to achieve academic success, "said Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
To this end, the Ministry of Education has provided nearly 13,000 euros to the City of Lorca this year to perform actions such as information and awareness campaigns, development and maintenance of occupational classroom, promoting the figure of the local police for support and prevention of absenteeism or the conference today.
Regional Education has provided nearly 20,000 euros to seven additional centers Lorca who presented their projects to the Ministry and perform dozens of actions to prevent truancy and promote educational success.
The centers are developing initiatives in this line are the CEIP Andrés García Soler and Villaespesa, the IES Ramón Arcas, Bartolomé Pérez Casas, Prince of Asturias and San Juan Bosco and the Concerted College Madre de Dios.
