Councillor of Education of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, reported that the city council is running a first phase of improvement actions in different schools in our municipality.
It is some work being done precisely during the holiday period between June and September to avoid interfering with the school year.
Montiel stated that these projects reaffirm the strong commitment of the school community council with the municipality, and their fundamental objective is to give students a more modern, functional, safe and comfortable getting better educational facilities.
We are talking about improving the first academic training of our children, a task in which we are making every effort possible, and that has led us to make very ambitious performances in recent years.
At present work is being made for an amount exceeding 85,000 euros, running a first phase of work that will be implemented in the near future with a new battery of improvement actions.
Francisco Montiel said that the works underway purpose is to improve the following schools in our district:
College "Our Lady of the Assumption", La Parroquia.
It is benefiting from the second phase of works aimed at repairing the damage caused by the earthquakes of May 11, 2011 in its entirety.
It should be explained that during the repair work for damage suffered in this school after the earthquake of 2011 made in summer 2013, damage that had remained hidden were detected.
As these new damage and works required for repair were not included in the project implementation schedule during this period, and after making the necessary checks and considering that new damage detected in any case as risks for students, it was decided as interval more convenient to carry out the works done by in this holiday period.
The project has been recently approved and awarded.
The works mainly focus on the repair of minor damage to three pillars of the center, as well as repainting the walls of the classroom and some small cracks in internal walls will be repaired.
The project, funded by the ECSC, involves an investment of 18,819.85 euros.
The works are scheduled to start next week den and will be completed prior to commencement of the course.
"Pérez de Hita" College, also included in the second phase of action to repair damage caused by earthquakes in 2011. Already in the summers of 2012 and 2013 actions were implemented in the center, and in the summer of 2013 . The project, also funded by the CECA envisages investment of 17,801.46 euros, beginning execution in the coming days that are completed prior to the start of the course.
Improvement works in the area of ​​Child College Alfonso X, for the repair of damage caused by earthquakes in 2011 and the construction of a pergola.
This is a work whose implementation began during the Easter holidays this year, a period that was used so that students could enjoy in the playground of a new pergola from the months of May and June of this year.
Once completed the school year they were able to start work within the classroom and proceeded to repair damage to roofs.
At present, the portion corresponding to repair cracks and fissures inside classrooms and common areas work is being completed, is scheduled for completion this month.
The project includes specific actions for structural repairs to beams and pillars and sill repair starting in the kitchen courtyard.
The work in this school have an investment of almost 48,000 euros, financed by the Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks.
Councillor of Education has also anticipated that the municipal department is currently working on writing two projects to improve schools:
Project works in the College of Special Education "Pilar Soubrier".

Investment of nearly 115,000 euros from the donation made by the Royal Family through the Hesperia Foundation is expected.
Improvement Works in electrical installations of the colleges of Puri, Ramonete and almond trees.
