The Embassy of Israel gives the municipality a special exhibition entitled "The Sources of Israel" on the occasion of the commemoration of this event
The Councillor of Tourism of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has reported that 11 to 14 September in Lorca Castle will be held the conference to celebrate the European Day of Jewish Culture.
Montiel Sanchez explained that binds our town, in this way, a celebration that takes term simultaneously in more than 30 countries.
This year, the focus will be on analyzing the role of women in Jewish culture.
From Lorca Taller del Tiempo, on 11, 12, 13 and 14 September in the grounds of the Fortaleza del Sol will be conducted wide range of activities: guided tours, family visits are dramatized, children's workshops, games, stories, tasting Khoser wine or enjoy a Sephardic menu.
The timetables for the development of the various activities will be:
Visits to the Castle and Archaeological Park Synagogue at 11: 30h, 13: 30h, 16: 30h and 18: 30h.
11: 30h: Workshop pastry where ears Amman (typical Purim cookies) will be developed.
At 12: 30h Family visit "The Feast of the Sabbath," a theatrical tour especially recommended for children will be held.
At 12: 17 and 30h: 30h guided the Alfonsina Tower, from where you can enjoy the wonderful views of the city visits will be made.
16: 00h: Storytelling for curiosities of Jewish culture.
17: 00h: Workshop Archaeological Dig.
.In Addition has created a special menu of Sephardic inspiration to taste some typical dishes of this cuisine and there is also scheduled for September 12 at 20:00 hours, a Kosher Wine Tasting ".
The Councillor for Tourism said "Lorca joins this celebration for the fifth year in order to convey the historical heritage of the Jewish people."
Participation in our town is more than justified.
Lorca has become a world leader in Jewish culture due to the discovery of medieval synagogue located on the side of the castle of our city, along with the remarkable Jewish Quarter Annex and has been a milestone in the history of both Lorca and the Hebrew scenario.
In our town we are working to exploit and disseminate to all levels the real treasure we have.
In fact in recent years it has completed a significant battery of measures in this regard, as is the case for the full recovery of the synagogue in question, the establishment of guided tours for all tourists and Lorca interested in knowing further of days of social science and the "International Medieval Archaeology Course Sefarad" to be held next September 12 and even a new festival of contemporary Jewish culture, "Jewish Festival".
Francisco Montiel wanted to encourage all Lorca and visitors of all ages to participate in the many activities that will be developed during these four days to "better understand the cultural traditions of a people's past and present of our city."
The Cistern of shoulder hosts the exhibition "The Power of Israel."
The Councillor of Tourism has stated that one of the highlights is a photographic exhibition to mark assigned this particular occasion by the Embassy of Israel.
This is the exhibition "Las Fuentes" which can be viewed from Friday morning until Sunday at the Cistern of the shoulder from 10:30 to 18:30 uninterruptedly.
Montiel Sanchez explained that this exhibition shows 30 stations along a historical route of great religious significance for different religions, with special emphasis on the holy places for Christianity.
This exhibition has been produced by the Public Relations Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
Its design has been done by Java Mordojovich on photographs taken by Hanan Issachar, some snapshots that reflect the pilgrimage of Christian churches, the Muslim presence in Jerusalem, prints of the cults of the Jews at the Western Wall during the blessing of the priests or impressive synagogues and mosques which attract thousands of worshipers.
