The president of the Community, Alberto Garre, said today in Lorca that "from the Regional Government of Murcia continue to work with farmers to achieve a stronger sector and improve its competitiveness in the domestic and overseas market."
Garre today inaugurated the 47th edition of the Livestock, Industrial and Food, SEPOR 2014, held at the fairgrounds in Santa Quiteria Lorca until 18 September and congratulated the organizers of this event for the "excellent work" that performed each year in their training and development, because, he said, "I'm convinced it will be a success for the whole livestock sector."

Although SEPOR started for pigs, has now also been extended to other farms as cattle, sheep, goats and poultry, so "much more increased its prestige and its impact on a very important sector for the regional economy."
The regional livestock sector has worked hard this year to achieve differentiation and in the region has set an important foundation and confidence indicators in the relevant markets, and especially in regard to food safety and animal health.
The fair, which last year received 60,000 visitors, this time to meet over 400 exhibitors spread across the five pavilions of the Santa Quiteria.
The president also stressed the inclusion this year of a novelty SEPOR, such as poultry symposium where speakers of great professional and university level will present the most important issues within the sector.
Similarly, SEPOR has chosen specially by his promotion through social networks to find the greatest possible impact, especially symposia are organized, such as the International Symposium porcinocultura and around the extensive program of technical and professional activities.

The regional livestock sector is represented by 5,000 farms with sales of more than 900 million euros a year, "38 percent more than just four years ago," said the president.
In 2013, Murcia livestock accounted for 36 percent of final agricultural production and 37 percent of the Murcia livestock production was for export, mainly to European countries and other non-EU and China Lebanon, Libya, and Japan.
The pig has a prominent mainly in the region of Guadalentin, where nearly half of the farms are concentrated place.
The Region of Murcia is the third pig farming community of Spain, with 170,000 sows and 4 million finishing pigs, and a turnover of over 500 million, 10 percent of the national total.
