The popular MP Ann Aquilino says "it is a very important sector in Lorca, which operates continuously since the Middle Ages"
The parliamentary group has shown its support for the tanning industry in Lorca with a motion, which today defended Congresswoman Ana Aquilino, which urged the regional government to "set the quality threshold for chromium is restored before modification of Royal Decree 60/2011. "
According to Aquilino, "the value of the maximum permissible concentration for chromium is provided so small that almost approaches the total elimination and not the mere reduction target established by the European Directive."
"This framework requirement hinders the sector and it is very difficult to continue on with their productive, economic and industrial activity," he added.
In his opinion, "it is very important to support this sector, which has been developing its activity continuously since the Middle Ages and economy and generate jobs for Lorca and Murcia, in general."
In this regard, he stressed that 85 percent of the jobs in this sector are fixed.
He also explained that "the tanning industry Lorca currently available from a sewage treatment plant, thanks to municipal management, manages treating waste water in the production process of the skin with excellent environmental performance."
"It is for this - he stressed - that from the Popular Party support the industry with a motion that we ask that their demands are met," he finished.
