A mission of Polish volunteers came to our city, an activity that is carried out from the Department of Culture by the People's University and is funded in full by the European Union.
The Councillor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, stressed that the city council, through its various departments and work areas, continues to enhance its policy of encouragement of voluntary exchange programs worldwide, with execution These days the project called "Grundtvig"
Sandra Martinez explained that we are talking about an activity framed under the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union.
It aims at sharing experiences in volunteerism and collaboration between members of the two organizations, in this case the VHS and the Federation of Social Organizations of the Polish region of Warmia and Mazury.
Its aim is to establish cooperation in working with volunteers.
The mayor of Culture has reported that the Polish mission in our city already has 4 people Dorota Lasica, Jagoda Molenda, Marta Elzbieta Rymkiewicz Kosmala and that in addition to having the opportunity to know our city, both its monuments, the art Lorca and traditions, and at this time of the commemoration of the city's patron, St. Clement, will develop its own work of volunteer work as English teaching classes at People's University, and know the work that is being developed in services such as Residence for the Elderly, Day Care Center, Red Cross, school Pilar Soubrier, Alfonso X and Apandis school.
This Polish organization brings together over a hundred volunteer organizations and institutions involved in the development of centers and projects volunteers.
Also work in various areas of shelters, counseling, housework, assistance for the elderly, taking even people who were in concentration camps during World War II.
It is a federation which serves seniors from youth and has contacts and relationships with various international organizations.
The project will continue throughout the month of May next year, when a new mission from Lorca volunteer made up 4 people to meet and work in social organizations in this region of northern Poland is sent.
Note that this project is being undertaken with funding from the Commission of the European Union amounting to € 16,800.
In May this year as Lorca volunteers were moved to Poland as a first experience of this activity.
The Grundtvig sectoral program aims to improve the quality and European dimension of adult education in the broadest sense, including non-formal education which is usually outside of this recognition of their studies and, most innovative, informal education can encompass all learning outside of formal education, including self-learning.
This program aims to respond to the educational challenge of an aging population in Europe and help provide adults with pathways to improving their knowledge and skills.
The operational objectives are working to improve the quality and accessibility of mobility throughout Europe of people involved in adult education and increase quantitatively.
Also aims to improve the quality and cooperation between organizations involved in adult education throughout Europe;
assist people from vulnerable social groups and in marginal social contexts, in particular older people and those who have left education without basic qualifications, in order to give them alternative opportunities to access adult education;
and improve pedagogical approaches and the management of organizations of adult education, while facilitating the development of innovative practices in adult education and their transfer, including from one participating country.
This European program also supports the development of content, services, pedagogies and practice for lifelong learning and innovative ICT-based.
