The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, Lorca attended Friday at the opening of the conference 'History and Heritage Museums', an event organized by the Blue Step Foundation in which more than fifty experts discuss projects musealization historic buildings.

The Step Blue Foundation has scheduled a total of seven papers on particular cases, such as the Cathedral of Murcia, the Archaeological Museum of Lorca or rehabilitation work of the former monastery of San Francisco as the home of the Blue Museum analyzed Easter (MASS), a project that has the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities.

"These projects are a challenge at the crossroads of planning and architectural with museology and museological interests, and in which you have to apply a holistic approach to the content and the protection and preservation of infrastructure will always hand, "said Maria Comas.

The conference, held at the Church of San Francisco de Lorca, also counted with a round table and a visit to the restoration of the Franciscan monastery which served as the seat of MASS.

On this visit, the architect responsible for the project, Juan de Dios de la Hoz, and the technicians of the company in charge of the works, Lorquimur involved.

The former Director General of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the Council of Europe and Chairman of Heritage Europa Nostra Awards, José María Ballester, is asked to deliver the inaugural lecture of the conference, which also assists the Catholic University San Antonio of Murcia .

During the morning session, also one of the experts from the Directorate General of Cultural Assets, Juan Carlos Molina, gave a lecture titled "The Cathedral of Murcia and its use as a museum in the last hundred years."

The speakers also highlighted the artistic director of the Museo Thyssen Bornemisza in Madrid, Guillermo Solana, who discusses the future of museum institutions in a talk entitled 'The museum and the digital age', or the artistic director of the Blue Museum of Easter Joaquin Bastida, who discusses the details of the project of the future museum.
