The Minister of Development, Public Works and Planning, Francisco Barnabas, accompanied by the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, visited the works of asphalted road Granada today and said that this action "will result in a large backbone connection of the districts of La Viña, Alfonso X and San José ".
Barnabas toured the area where these works, which have been projected onto an area of ​​approximately 1,000 meters, between the start of the road to Granada and the rotunda of San José are made.
The works have involved an investment of 1.3 million euros.
The performance is improved paving, construction of bike lanes and stormwater network, signaling and renewal of water supply, sewerage and traffic light network, as well as electrical networks, lighting and telecommunications .
This road will have four lanes and the traffic will combine with bike lanes, as proposed by the experts who developed the Traffic Study Lorca, which will identify vehicle flows that occur in major arteries city, and how mobility affects the partial pedestrianization of the neighborhoods most affected by the earthquake of 2011.
Barnabas stressed that one of the cores of greater traffic congestion is the intersection between Calle Pérez Casas, Granada Road and Jerome Street Santa Fe, "hence the need for increasing the capacity, doubling the capacity of this pathway".
The Minister said the Traffic Study "is articulated as a valuable tool for the future design of the road network of the city of Lorca, identifying those spots where congestion and delays occur in the displacement in the districts of La Viña , San Jose, San Diego and Alfonso X ".
