The Directorate General for Environment, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, located yesterday the bodies of four herons in a chest of Puentes dam, in the municipality of Lorca.
Theft of protective metal grille in the chest became a death trap for birds, which fell into it to try to catch the fish that frequent this area of ​​the swamp.
Environmental agents and staff of the Center for Wildlife Recovery, dependent Protected Areas Service and Defense of the Environment, went to the said swamp to remove the bodies, record the biometric data and arrange for its removal and transfer to the Centre, where the exact cause of death was verified.
