The event was attended by the city authorities and experts in emergency management
Emergency Councilman City of Lorca, Eduardo Sanchez, participated last Saturday at the First Conference on Disaster held at the Casa de Cultura de Santa Pola.
The event brought together over 200 professionals from the emergency services and security as well as professional psychology and health.
The event was organized by the City of Santa Pola and was attended by the Mayor of the city, Miguel Zaragoza;
the head of the local police;
Councillor for Public Safety, Antonio Perez Huerta;
and the Deputy Mayor, Lola Gadea;
and a varied number of experts who contributed their experiences to help alleviate the physical and psychological suffering of victims of disasters and emergencies.
Eduardo Sanchez gave a lecture entitled: "Lorca: past, present and future after the earthquake" that was intended to draw conclusions from the management of Lorca earthquake and the progress made to date.
During his presentation explained that "the tragedy made us suffer and that is something that can not be changed. But it has also allowed us to learn from experience."
So, recommended following the example of Lorca that "we have to increase resiliciencia of cities, improving the ability to overcome any disaster and using available resources to be better than we were."
Councilman also referred to the conference "Lorca Resilient" from which three lessons that can be used to manage any natural misfortune were extracted.
First, the importance of tapping and squeezing new technologies for coordination and resolution of problems arising from any disaster.
Second, the increased formation continues in the prevention and self-protection measures, both professionals and the general public.
And finally, the importance of the human factor in this type of disaster.
Abad Sanchez ended his presentation by explaining that "only analyzing the successes and mistakes can generate the mechanisms and structures that allow us to build better urban spaces, future-oriented and allow full integration with their inhabitants and the world to which we belong ".
