The candidate of Unión Progreso y Democracia (UPyD) for mayor of Lorca, Juan Manuel Cabrera, said he considers necessary the progressive introduction of an "electronic administration to provide access for all citizens" with the simplification of procedures and with the reduction of personnel needed to carry its management.
As Cabrera, one of the truly distinct elements of the policy proposal to the rest UPyD explains, is "democratic regeneration and transparency".
In this context, he stressed that "our electoral proposal is based on generating a system of governance, based on transparency of the administration and control of municipal activity".
For Juan Manuel Cabrera, work control of public activity at the municipal level should be in charge of "professional independent from the political institutions" such as secretaries, treasurers and municipal auditors.
Moreover, from a regional, local spokesman stated that "there should be a serious study of the merger of municipalities" in order to improve the management of resources in response to population sizes, which make managing profitable.
"Given the size of the municipal territory in Lorca, we think it would be very useful to establish systems of cooperation with neighboring municipalities."
Similarly, UPyD candidate for mayor of Lorca has said that the organization of municipal action must encourage the participation of different population groups, maintaining the autonomy of the smaller local authorities in managing their own resources.
"We need democratic and transparent channels of participation of entities established, compared to the current trend of the municipal government that has almost completely eliminated these channels of participation," remarked Cabrera.
