The Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities organized for the first time in this course extracurricular workshops for gifted students.
Specifically, the Secondary School Ramón Arcas Lorca welcomed this week the last session of the second quarter of the two workshops, which involved a total of 35 students.
These activities outside the classroom help these students develop their talents with curricular content, though related to the different classes they take in their centers, which represent an enrichment for these students.
Specifically, teachers worked in these workshops in scientific, humanistic and emotional development skills.
The sessions, lasting three hours, were held every fortnight between October and March.
The general director of Educational Quality, Innovation and Attention to Diversity, Begoña Iniesta, who attended the last session of the workshops, they stressed that "challenges students assume that motivate them and help develop their talents outside the classroom. Specifically, which are held at the Ramón Arcas are related to scientific thought ".
Currently, schools and institutes in the region exist about 2,659 gifted students, 882 in primary, secondary and 1,444 in 333 in high school.
In addition, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities has pioneered the implementation of a screening protocol type and these students have a dedicated team of educational psychologists of high abilities.
In this course, are 30 workshops scheduled gifted by the Ministry of Education in different schools.
"In fact, every year we increased the number of workshops conducted and evaluated their results to continue improving them," said Begoña Iniesta.
Also, the '+ Educational Quality + School Success' strategy and the Organic Law of Educational Quality Improvement establish measures for individualized attention gifted students to develop their potential.
Workshops in Lorca
The first workshop was aimed at students with high abilities enrolled in courses of 1st and 2nd of ESO.
There are 17 students and is entitled 'Practice-Science', taught by Professor Irene Sofia Serrano Ruiz.
The contents worked were related to various issues such as dissection techniques, identification with DNA or genetic fingerprint, chemiluminescence, and the presence of lipids and carbohydrates in the diet.
They also studied the digestive action of salivary amylase, the effects of internal processes of the Earth, the creative development of models of folds and faults, as well as invertebrate species coast of Murcia.
The second workshop was organized for students with high abilities of 3rd and 4th of ESO.
Under the name of 'Digital Astrophotography: The limit is not heaven', 18 students worked with Professor Peter Andanuche Ayala, on issues such as the recognition of the constellations, celestial mechanics positional astronomy and optics telescopes and cameras Photographic.
They also addressed light pollution and impact on astronomy, ecosystems and health, artificial satellites or the integration of multiple shots for deep sky images.
