Continues apace implementing improvement work on the stretch of Avenida Europe as well as in the left margin and the boulevard of Avenida Rafael Maroto.
The Councillor responsible for the area of ​​San Diego, Maria del Carmen Ruiz, has reported that thanks to the progress of the works, from this morning is open to traffic the stretch of Avenida de Europa between Incarnate Paso Avenue and Calle Cristo de la Blood, an area that joins the opening on the right side of Avenida Rafael Maroto.
In addition, from today it will continue to work to improve on Avenida Europe, particularly between the streets Step Incarnate and Christ of the Blood.
According to the forecasts that are managed by the company responsible for the works, on Wednesday will be opened Fuente Alamo Street, perpendicular to the street Puente Gimeno, to improve vehicle traffic flow and facilitate urban mobility.
Ruiz Jodar explained that to continue with the work of comprehensive improvement in the district of San Diego is to restrict the traffic and pedestrian boulevard and the left side of the Avenida Rafael Maroto.
Also, on Wednesday it will also proceed to cut the street Antonio Machado and street Mazarrón.
San Diego Councilwoman noted that the Government of the Region of Murcia allocated nearly 5 million to urban regeneration in this part of the city, which will also create direct jobs for, the which reserves a part for young people under 30 years, to which should be added the indirect result of economic dynamism that generate this improvement.
Furthermore, these actions are designed with the preferences expressed by the residents of the neighborhood themselves, bringing their claims through the various meetings that were previously held by the city of Lorca for this purpose.
Thus, the three main lines of action of urban regeneration project are redesigning Boulevard Rafael Maroto, respecting the existing trees, restoration of Casa Mata park and the creation of two new roundabouts to ease traffic in the area.
As for the equipment it will take place the renovation, among others, of the drinking water, damaged by time and by earthquakes in May 2011. Similarly, it is planned the renovation of the sewer and gas supply presenting deterioration.
Ruiz Jodar said the remodeling project aims to strengthen the unity and the image of the neighborhood, with its inhabitants as the main protagonists, who has also been consulted on the actions undertaken and to meet different needs.
Other actions such as the creation of a ring road to improve road traffic are also included;
increasing by 74% the number of parking spaces, moving from the current 204 to 354 provided;
the renewal of urban infrastructure and the incorporation of new communications infrastructures such as telephone network and the wireless network that the residents claimed.
