The purpose of the new route is to communicate the Eagles road round to the Puente de Vallecas, where it will connect with the existing road in service to reduce traffic congestion and consolidate as an escape route if necessary.
l Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar has reported this morning that the last meeting of the Local Government Council has approved the cooperation agreement between the city council and the Government of Spain to begin construction of the central round of evacuation, a work which, according to plan, will begin in a few weeks, especially during the month of June.
This project, which is funded by European Funds (Murcia Regional Operational Programme 2007-2013 ERDF fund) and the City Council, involves a total investment of 6,939,244.06 euros.
The forecast, if no relevant incidents arise, is that this project be completed before the end of the year.
We are talking about an agreement that involves the rehabilitation and expansion of the so-called South Avenue from the popular Vallecas bridge to the roundabout that connects with Highway Eagles (RM-11).
It should be noted that already in the memory of the General Management Plan Lorca the need for this action in the road network was manifested.
Parallel to the Rambla de Tiata, runs an urban road of limited capacity.
This road has become increasingly important as a "by-pass" of current urban axes, as well as a distributor of traffic into the city and to nearby nuclei Huerta, through the few streets that are able cross the barrier of the railway (Avda. de Cervantes, Alameda of the Constitution or Fajardo Bravo).
Santa Clara Avenue currently plays an essential role in city traffic, the only urban itinerary that allows run in north-south and connect neighborhoods on either side of the city, without passing through the town.
The new road LorcaÁguilas has increased the functional value of Avenida Santa Clara, since the connection can create a route through the east bypass and relief to the city.
The culmination of these works benefit from an outstanding city, since that will end the current problems of road communication, among which we must point out the lack of alternatives longitudinal connections to Juan Carlos I, at the city level and between neighborhoods, both east of the railway line and in the North / West outskirts of the city.
We also found deficiencies related to the lack of cross-connections between the neighborhoods on either side of the main railway line, and the lack of a road network in the area of the Huerta (cross connections between the radial road), and poor capacity of the road to the objective of the current planning, that is to enhance urban development on certain grounds of the Huerta.
The basic objective of the action is to correct these situations.
Objective: To improve the communication network
The purpose of the new route is to improve communication between the road round Eagles (RM.11) in Puente de Vallecas, where it will link with the vials in current service.
For it is decided advantage of the space currently occupied by the Rambla de Tiata.
This situation is resolved filling it to match the height with the banks, charting futures vials new space that is generated prior diversion of existing services in the riverbed along the left bank.
This will earn an unused additional urban space, reducing the impact of the works on the neighbors and without affecting traffic on the right bank, which is the most intense, proceeding to its reorganization after opening traffic on the main trunk .
Earn, thanks to this intervention, about 7,000 m2 of new green areas and leisure.
It is noteworthy that although the boardwalk Tiata known, is not a boulevard itself, but an irrigation canal large occasionally used to extract water from the river Guadalentín (through a gate) and to irrigate the fields of Lorca, something that can be followed by thanks to the installation of a reinforced concrete pipe 2 meters in diameter and 811 in length.
Parallel to this line, 4 more will be added;
2 cast 600 mm for drinking water, another of 1,600 mm for pressure irrigation and sanitation a new collector.
A road with two lanes in each direction (3.5 m wide and hard shoulders of 0.50 m) separated by a median of 1 m is designed.
Also provides a bike path 3m a service lane 3.5 m wide and 2 m sidewalk on the left bank, with a variable configuration depending on the availability of existing space along trace the new road.
It has been included in this action also the reconstruction of the wall on the right bank of the Rambla de Tiata, which will replace the current one that is damaged.
