The Councillor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, president of the Group of Songs and Dances of Lorca, Inmaculada Martinez de Miguel, presented this morning the XXVI International Festival of Folklore "Ciudad de Lorca" to be held June 26 to July 1 in different localities of the region of Guadalentín.
Involving more than 300 components, various folk formations from across the world.
Sandra Martinez stressed that this event is a unique opportunity to enjoy traditional dances and cultural legacy of the longest established in the many peoples of the world.
During the days of this festival we can come to know other cultures through their dances.
Thus we have the opportunity to travel the world without leaving Lorca, from the Mediterranean to the Pacific, through Balkan sounds and dances.
Lorca dance and sound these days the rhythm of the dance world.
The events begin on June 26 with the arrival of the different groups.
Among these folk formations Slovenia, Mexico, Ecuador and Georgia, as well as the hosts, "Songs and Dances of Lorca" .For the evening are, these groups will do a performance in Puerto Lumbreras where they delight the citizens of the neighboring municipality their dances.
Saturday, June 27, will be the official reception of the groups by the municipality at the Palace of Guevara, where a parade will be held until the Theater War.
After that we will proceed to the opening of the Festival and an inaugural session of the same at the Teatro Guerra is performed.
At night, the folk formations participate in a cooking demonstration and have a welcome party at the Hotel Resort Eagles.
The events continue on Sunday with a second performance at the Teatro Guerra.
The next day, June 29 afternoon, Lorca was filled with dancing with the "Come Dancing" activity and a live folklore section, in which citizens may enjoy closely dances and traditions participating countries ..

The program will conclude on Wednesday, July 1 with the farewell to groups that have participated in the XXVI International Festival of Folklore "Ciudad de Lorca".
The group of Songs and Dances of Lorca is established in 1945 in order to rescue, preserve and disseminate the folklore of Lorca and the surrounding region through songs, dances, costumes and traditions inherited from our ancestors.
Currently, the group of Songs and Dances of Lorca, consists of more than 100 people and is a full member of CIOFF (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals), an organization associated with UNESCO which ensures the quality and purity of these events and supports, therefore, the Festival of Lorca as one of the most prestigious in our region, which so far has involved more than 60 countries around the world and almost all the Autonomous Communities.
