A course at the University of the Sea deals with the Jewish culture in the Iberian Peninsula (10/07/2015)

The archaeological find of late medieval Castle Lorca Jewry and the fifteenth century synagogue, will be the scene in which the II International Medieval Archaeology course Sefarad will develop, one of the courses of the Sea International University-Campus Mare Nostrum to be held between 20 to 22 July.

The activity aims to provide a theoretical and practical specialized training on the culture of the Jewish minority that lived in the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Ages.

With the participation of some of the best international specialists in the field, and includes theoretical sessions and designed to give attendees an updated list of the most important aspects of the reality of the Peninsular Jews vision workshops.

The course is not only conceived as a field of theoretical and practical training in archeology, but also tries to be a space for cultural dialogue on the problems of interpretation of archaeological contexts Jews in predominantly Christian or Islamic historical societies.

It is run by Jorquiera Alejandro Rodriguez Eiroa, a professor at the University of Murcia and Andres Martinez Rodriguez, director of the Archaeological Museum of Lorca.

The activity has a duration of 25 hours, and those who enroll in it shall be entitled to 2.5 free elective credit or ECTS-credit CRAU.
