The Councillor of Tourism of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has reported that during the month of August, the Fortaleza del Sol opens its doors from 10: 30h in the morning until 00: 00h continuously, over 14 hours with activities They have been designed to exploit all the possibilities offered by the Castle of Lorca, with a day and a night programming.
Francisco Montiel stated that August is the traditional month of summer vacation and one of the most important in terms of receiving visitors in Lorca.
Last year 2014 over 7,300 tickets were sold by Lorca Taller del Tiempo in tourism during this month, the most touristic city of Lorca after Easter.
The mayor of Tourism explained that during the day and from 10: 30h to 20: 30h you can make visits to the Alfonsina Tower and the Synagogue at different times of morning and evening.
In addition, for children they have been prepared cooking workshops and activities with recycled materials, without forgetting the theatrical visits on weekends.
Montiel has indicated that during the night the theatrical tour "The Ark of the 4 keys" becomes the protagonist of the summer.
In the eighteenth century an ark closed with four keys guarded treasures of the city of Lorca and could only be opened in the presence of the four carriers of the keys.
A mysterious plot, theft, who is to blame? ... The secrets behind the ark will be revealed throughout this fun visit.
This activity takes place from Tuesday to Saturday, beginning 7 and ends on August 22, with the exception of the 12th, the night of the Perseids is performed.
Shifts tours are at 21: 30h, 22: 30h and theater piece at 23: 30h.
The price is 9 € for adults and free for children up to 12 years.
The Councillor for Tourism also recalled that during the rest of the nights of August, you can enjoy visiting "The sunset of History", in which a guide will show the remains of the Jewish Quarter with spectacular fifteenth century Synagogue Inside the imposing Tower Alfonsina.
