The widening of the platform, expanding and improving drainage and road paving will take place
The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, through the Directorate General of Highways, has formalized the award of the contract for the replacement of the pavement of the RM-504, linking the districts of La Paca and Dona Ines, in the municipality of Lorca, with a budget amounting to 334,026 euros.
The Minister Francisco Barnabas stressed the "importance" of this action, which "improves communication and transportation on a road that runs along the north of the municipality and connects these two districts, which have a population of 1,400 inhabitants."
Work will primarily focus on replacement of existing pavement layers to correct their deterioration, while the current platform, which makes difficult the transit of two vehicles and complicates the frequent traffic of agricultural vehicles will expand.
To this training and lining ditches and renewal of signage and road markings will join, so that "a request demanded by citizens and farmers in the area will be met," said Barnabas.
This project, included in the program of works to be executed by the region under the contracted with the European Investment Bank (EIB) is projected from km 20,995, located in Doña Inés, until it joins the already made a loan first phase, which reached up to 26,920 km.
Comprehensive Improvement
"With all this, the overall improvement culminates initiated a few months ago and that the current platform will expand to 6.6 meters total width, so that users will have better security when traveling along this road" said the director.
In total, the two phases will involve an intervention on six kilometers of this road with a total budget allocation of 648,774 euros.
