Emergency Councilman City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, inaugurated this morning at Sun City workshop simulation of preventive measures against floods, which is part of the Educen European program, promoted by the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS ) along with six other organizations.
Bayonas stressed that 25 people, including neighborhood representatives, irrigators and farmers, emergency services, CHS technicians and experts from Sweden, Turkey, the Netherlands, Greece, Italy and Poland, have come together to enhance the role of all actors involved before a flood.
Today in Lorca, which includes a visit to Marsh Bridges, Rambla de Nogalte and Lorca Castle to see the entire Guadalentín Valley, is a pilot project, which will be repeated in the two-year duration This project also analyzes the performance against earthquakes and droughts.
The objective of this initiative is to analyze the difficulties faced by citizens and governments to act in such situations, see how it works and how it can be improved, for example by improving pre-information on floodplains.
