The Cabinet has approved a proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Spokesperson, a grant of 339,532 euros to the community building owners Marin Ponce de Leon for the recovery and restoration of the former home of the Marin-Ponce de Leon, in Lorca.
It is a manor house, built in 1630 by the family, one of the most famous aristocratic lineages city.
This project is part of the Master Plan for the Recovery of Cultural Heritage of Lorca, which establishes coordination and joint actions for the full recovery of historic and artistic Sun City after the earthquake of May 11, 2011.
This building, with degree of protection 2 was extensively damaged even performing emergency work made necessary to prevent its collapse and stabilize the facade overlooking Loch Street with the installation of a structure.
The original house underwent a modification in the middle of the last century to divide into two, with a gazebo it was included to the square of San Vicente and the two sides were differentiated in design and color of the facade.
In 2006 a new remodeling was conducted, whereby the façade was unified and distribution of eight houses and two shops are established.
The building highlights its main entrance emblazoned, understated decor with pilasters and capitals cajeadas showing unique elephant heads, similar to that of the House of the Guevara built in the same era.
