Part of the works that run on the road, with a budget of 334,000 euros, and which will culminate soon with the complete repair of the road

The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, through the Directorate General of Highways, has corrected a change in the existing flush RM-504, which connects the districts of Lorca and La Paca Dona Ines, improving road safety in this via.

"It aims to provide greater security and increase the quality of driving users who frequently travel through this route, which records a high annual traffic at around 140,000 journeys," said General Director of Roads, Jose Antonio Fernandez.

The CEO noted that "it is a performance that gives satisfaction to a request by the residents of the towns of the environment".

The work lies within the work of replacement of the pavement that are being implemented in the RM-504, which have a budget of 334,026 euros and is expected to be completed in the first months of the year.

Fernandez said the project involved the refurbishment of the road at the kilometer 22,730, on a path of about 750 meters in length, where the ground has changed in plan and elevation that limited visibility.

The work done at this point of the road have required the excavation of 3,600 cubic meters in clearing, embankment fill 460 cubic meters and the projection of a granular base of 2,200 cubic meters of artificial gravel.

Second stage

Moreover, in this way it is also working on expanding the platform of the road, which is expected to widen to 6.6 meters, with the intention of facilitating the transit of two vehicles in lanes three meters.

Also, it takes out the renovation of the existing pavement layers, which provide some extra bite to the road vehicles;

the renewal of signage and road markings, and training and lining ditches.

The latter work is included in a second phase of work, which repairs on six kilometers of the road will be completed, between kilometers 20,995, located in the village of Doña Inés, and 26,920.

Between the two performances, the regional government will invest a total of 648,774 euros to improve this road, an action contained in the program of works executed the Autonomous Community from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
