Regional Craft Centre de Lorca, has hosted an exhibition a few days ago the company Lorca Crafts, SL.
In the opening ceremony was attended by Director General of Trade and Crafts, Julio José Lorenzo, Councillor of Tourism, Commerce and Handicrafts, Francisco Montiel, and a group of artisans Lorca.
The exhibition presents a wide range of carpets, blankets, carpets and fabrics for making regional petticoats.
This exhibition will run until April 30 at the Regional Centre Craft Lorca.
The company Lorca Crafts, SL, directed by Francisco Salas Jódar, is the last workshop of handmade rugs and carpets left in the city.
Their rugs are woven with a pattern of three colors of wool and cotton warp.
Distinguished by its classical motifs of flowers, birds and arabesques, designs that are woven from the eighteenth century.
Also you can see carpets with cutting-edge, built from the nineteenth century.
All parts are reversible and are finished with hand made fringe knots.

It is believed that the art of carpet weaving dates back some 3,500 years.
The oldest specimen from Siberia and was found in the tomb of a Scythian prince in the valley of Pazyryk.
It is estimated that this carpet was woven in the V century BC, following an advanced technique, which demonstrates its mastery of this art.
The production of carpets began in the late nineteenth century.
In the exhibition you can see tapestries with designs of flowers, monuments, landscapes and heraldic motifs.
Also, the covers are the oldest pieces with classic drawings of flowers and birds, motifs with more than one hundred years.
Finally, an example of the regional tissues: smooth fabric for petticoat cloth embroidery and striped petticoats, for work clothes.
