Lorca City Council became the first local authorities of the Autonomous Community of Murcia in taking top honors in the awards that the Technical Association for Waste Management and Environment (Ategrus) awarded to those actions and work have been made to improve or defend the waste management, cleaning and solid waste management in general.
The town has won the prize for what the organization believes have been "the efforts and achievements in order to stimulate awareness and technological advances that serve to keep improving the quality of life", led all in the service of citizens that in the case of Lorca, manages the municipal Limusa.
At the awards categories choose different municipalities, provincial, municipal, regional governments, companies providing services, engineering, consulting, equipment manufacturers and systems for waste management and urban sanitation.
Lorca chose the top step of the prestigious 'brooms' after achieving fame with consecutive surveys of silver, gold and special mention, that every two years has been storing up, culminating in the platinum contained in the premises of the fair grounds Juan Carlos I de Madrid (IFEMA), the local mayor, Francisco Jodar, during International Week of Urbanism and Environment and TEM-TECMA Salons.

The jury awarded the Platinum Broom innovation and process automation and management of resources in terms of street cleaning, waste collection and treatment of them, greatly valuing new investment in machinery, commissioning of new services, expansion of service routes to the merchants, their awareness initiatives, and advances in packaging recovery and recycling.
Limusa has been referenced in the Region of Murcia in initiatives such as the operation of mobile Ecoparque, extending the landfill that already makes the rejection collection of refuse, or performing in public awareness and ideas Paper or Project collecting used cooking oil.
The large size and the ability to provide services in all geographical scope have also been recognized.
