At the same time it intends to collect and research studies from universities and study centers, and to publicize that reflects in a deeper and better understanding of migration, promote mutual understanding and the encounter between the indigenous and migrant views to a greater appreciation of multiculturalism and provide the tools to help policy makers and practitioners in the design of policies and initiatives that respond appropriately and accurately to the needs of immigration.
The creation of the Observatory in the Region of Murcia responds to a regional government's political commitment enshrined in the "Plan for Social Integration of immigrants 2006/2009", while his delegation in Lorca is a commitment of municipal government team.
