ERP society Limusa and Spain sealed a commercial cooperation agreement initiated during this financial year 2008 to the traceability of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) generated in the home of the town of Lorca.
At the agreement signing was attended by Ignacio Duque Oliart, on behalf of recyling European Platform (ERP SAS) and Santos Gonzalez Sanchez, Clean City Lorca (Limusa).
The agreement is to regulate the treatment of such waste in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 208/2005 of 25 February, electrical and electronic equipment and waste management, which aims to "establish measures to prevent generation of waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and reduce the disposal and hazardous nature of its components, as well as regular management to improve environmental protection, "said the head of ERP.
The legislation, recalled after the signing of the agreement Limusa manager, Santos Gonzalez, requires local authorities more than 5,000 inhabitants "to ensure through their municipal systems, and under its responsibility for waste management urban, separate collection of WEEE from private households, being the producer of electrical and electronic equipment who should bear the costs of management, including collection from temporary storage facilities established by local authorities or from distributors ".
Thus, ERP, is to cover the liability of producers under the WEEE legislation as Integrated Management System (GIS) of electrical and electronic equipment in the Autonomous Community of Murcia.
And, meanwhile, made Limusa home collection and selection of components ready for delivery.
The term includes all types of waste equipment from private households, or equivalent, and grouped by four categories: Large cooling appliances (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and, in general, devices that include a cooling system); large appliances (appliances such washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, etc.) Category Other (microwave, oven, hotplates, heating, fans, hair dryers, coffee machines, vacuum cleaners, electric razors, radios, TVs, other than cathode-ray tubes, video, Hi-Fi equipment, drills, saws, sewing machines, other tools for working metal or wood, gardening tools, toys, medical appliances from households, monitoring tools and control, vending and recreational) and cathode ray tubes (computer monitors and TVs CRT).
The duration of the agreement shall be two years, automatically renewable for annual periods unless impaired by either party.
For the purposes of treatment, are three headings under segregation in 2, 3 and 4 fractions of what the final bill will depend jointly on their management, between 10 and 80 euros a tonne.
Until now, the management of this waste was funded by Limusa.
A report for fiscal year 2005 that was the basis for negotiations leading to this agreement estimated the annual cost of close to 40,000 euros, now save the public service Lorca.
The collection of this type of waste that year was 90 tons from the collection of bulky door to door, 4 tons of equipment and 41 tons deposited in the Clean Point.
