The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz inaugurated this morning the IX Youth Participation Fair Youth Zone `2008 'to be held in the Plaza de Toros de Lorca and the surrounding area from 17 to 19 October.

For three days the 140 member associations held more than 300 cultural activities and leisure.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, Director of the Institute for Youth, Veronica Lopez, Councilman Joaquin Ruiz Montalvan Youth and the President of the Territorial Council of the CAM, Angel Martinez.

Young area has become, after nine years of activity in a meeting for associations and youth associations to exchange experiences and initiatives which are made known to the young population of the Region of Murcia associations.

For three days, associations and institutions coexist very different typology and leisure organizations, educational, labor, student, cultural, environmental, development cooperation, voluntary work.

This year the 140 groups that attend the fair made a total of 320 activities such as live radio, parades, concerts, theater, workshops, exhibitions, juggling, film, roleplaying games, literature, scavenger hunts, hip hop, graffiti, etc. ; And new this year is installed within the grounds of the arena, a setting where each night will play several musical groups that will put the finishing touch to a day of intense activity.

Another novelty is the use of new technologies to inform visitors of the activities carried out in the 'Youth Zone'.

So through text messages to mobile phones via bluetooth, the audience of the show will receive information about events taking place.

Since 2006, this meeting comes as travelers from different municipalities in the region in order to reach more youth.

So far it has developed in Cartagena in 2006 and 2007 in Molina de Segura.

This year is expected to visit campus Lorca 40 secondary schools in the region and is expected to attend over 35,000 people.

Youth Participation Fair is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism through the Institute of Youth in the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the Municipal Institute of City of Lorca Youth, the Youth Council of the Region of Murcia The Youth Council of Lorca and the CAM.

Youth Zone 2008 has a budget of around 180,000 euros, of which the CAM provides 54,000 euros, the city of Lorca and the remaining 26,000 euros, 100,000 euros Youth Institute.
