The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, and the Rector of the University of Murcia, Jose Antonio Cobacho have formalized this morning the cooperation agreement whereby the City Council will lorquino material resources, human and economic operation of the Centre for Medieval Studies in the municipality.
The mayor explained that the Session is committed to providing the Center for University Studies of a location, the provision of infrastructure for the stable development of the center, administrative personnel and services as well as a financial contribution to the stable operation the center, which will grant basis and will be approved in advance by the Local Government Board.
The University of Murcia undertakes, for its part, is to promote, through the Centre for Medieval Studies analyzing this topic from many different perspectives that all disciplines of knowledge applied to their research.
The Centre for Medieval Studies has since Nov. 5 based in the town of Lorca, and was born as an ambitious extensive profile in order to cover different areas of influence of medievalism Murcia, national and international.
To achieve its goals, the Centre for Medieval Studies will organize and develop the promotion, realization and dissemination of research, information on experiences, work and materials of interest through specialized courses, seminars, conferences, symposia, etc., specialized training aimed at improving and upgrading of professional and technical advice to public and private entities in matters of the purpose of the Centre.
Finally, the Councillor for Education and University, Jose Joaquin Peñarrubia, explained that "with this agreement, the City is involved once again in the draft Lorca University, which is becoming a reality that will transform the city" .
