The Department of Tourism, Commerce and Handicrafts, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Trade and Handicrafts and within the Trade Promotion Plan, has launched a campaign to promote the use of cloth bags for shopping.
Councilman Francisco Montiel, said that "the objective of this campaign is to reduce plastic bag consumption and awareness of citizens on the problem of waste generation.
The campaign will involve the free distribution of 6,000 reusable cloth bags to citizens, through the shops and traditional market Thursday at the fairgrounds.
For maximum effectiveness and impact, the allocation of the stock will begin on Thursday, March 5 in all participating establishments. "
The mayor of Tourism, Commerce and Handicrafts has also stressed that "this campaign is based on sustainable waste management: reduce, reuse and recycling.
