The Department of Tourism, Commerce and Handicrafts, in collaboration with Lorca Taller del Tiempo, has given cloth bags between people who have come to the traditional market on Thursday to go shopping.
This initiative is part of Plan to Promote Trade and has been funded by the Directorate General of Trade and Handicraft of the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research.
The aim of this campaign is to reduce plastic bag consumption and awareness of citizens on the problem of waste generation.
These cloth bags is to take a first step in reducing waste.
Its use in everyday purchases will help reduce unnecessary use of plastic whose final destination is usually the landfill.
On Thursday March 12 will continue the distribution of cloth bags at the fairgrounds which hosts the traditional market on Thursday.
