A month and a half after it became public the stoppage of the furnace's production of Lorca Holcim in the day yesterday there was a meeting between senior officials of the company, the committee itself and the unions.
Federation of Metal, Construction and Allied Workers (MCA) of UGT Murcia, were the Secretary of Organization, Andrés López Melgarejo and the Secretary of the District of Lorca, Antonio Campos.
The company was clear and strong from the outset when providing the solutions that now have to be assessed within the unions and the next March 25 will be accepted or not in its entirety in the meeting to be place in Madrid.
In writing, raised several "solutions" among which the temporary maintenance of the activity of the milling, bagging and shipping of cement which will require 38 people, but we must not forget that the staff total to 90.
In addition, Holcim Lorca offers early retirement to all workers over 56 years, and the relocation of workers to other facilities where there is surplus production, and finally, raise a record Temporary Employment Regulation (ERE ) six months to 47 people, arguing that this amount will be gradually reduced by the application of these measurements.
The company argues the fall in demand for cement in the last 2008 of 23.8%, a figure that could rise, pointing to 30% this year.
Thus, Holcim is surplus estimated two million tonnes, 40% of total capacity and the proposed solutions are intended to save the current situation of low demand and adjust production costs, pending the standardization of the market at end of period .
However, the Secretary General of the MCA in Murcia, Juan José Pérez Manzanera, explained that "from now on, we put all these ideas in the hands of our legal services to a rigorous review and before March 25 we will meet with two representatives of UGT in the factory to carry Madrid Lorca other proposals.
