During the March 24, a full program of activities appear to SMEs and the public the value and opportunities created by free software
Advance Movement, the largest technology exhibition traveling in Spain, organized by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, will show through the collaboration of CENATIC, the opportunities created by the use of open source software.
To do this, tomorrow, 24, and together with the regional government of Murcia, Murcia University and the city of Lorca, has organized a series of activities in which citizens can see firsthand the benefits of the use of open source software, and as we sometimes make use of it without being aware of it.
A full program of lectures, demonstrations, workshops, case studies, and even a networking event and business, will know what is and what opportunities offered by open source software.
CENATIC has designed a stand that will be installed at 23 and 24 March in the Alameda of the Constitution of Lorca, and display tools, applications and free software resources, revealing also the projects developed by this institution of national reference .
Conferences and Workshops Program
As lectures, these will take place in Room Selga, the c / Selga lorquina 30 of the city.
The program to develop is the following:
11:00 a.m. Demonstration of business applications on open platforms of electronic ID by Tomas Garcia-Mere company Atos Origin and CENATIC.
Act 11:30 institutional and debate about free software, which will be attended by regional government authorities as Diego Pedro García, director general of Telecommunications and Information Society, and Manuel Escudero, president of Information Technology.
Also be counted in this panel discussion with Thomas Jimenez, a professor at the University of Murcia, and David Sanchez, head of Dissemination and Communication CENATIC.
12:30 Presentation of 4 cases of successful companies in the region whose business model is free software, or who have successfully migrated their systems to free platforms.
Participating companies will be Open Red, Item, and Visualtis Marla Center, and the board will be energized by CENTIC and CENATIC.
In addition to conferences, will develop a series of workshops that will show the youth of the town which is free software, and some of the most widely used open source applications, such as the GIMP and Open Office suite.
Boost to open source software
CENATIC is the strategic project of the Government of Spain with a mission to promote and disseminate open source ICT in all spheres of society.
It is a bet that is the position of Spain as reference free software based technologies.

Movement Moves On
It is the largest technology exhibition touring Spain, organized by the Ministry of Industry within Avanza2 Plan, is scheduled to go up to 20 Spanish cities during 2009 and 2010 with the aim of bringing information technologies and communication to the general public .
