González Tovar aid financing highlights the competitiveness of the food industry
More than 7.5 million euros will be earmarked for development programs in agriculture and regional livestock
One million euros for modernization of farms, Young Farmers, Agri-environment and Improving Quality of Life in Rural Areas
The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, made this morning a visit to the cooperative Alimer Lorca, accompanied by the President of the Irrigation Lorca, Manuel Soler, in which, after a tour of the facilities had a meeting with Board of the Cooperative, to see first hand the problems that affect them.
He subsequently visited several centers handled in Tercia vegetables that have been equally concerned by the current situation.
In this context, Gonzalez Tovar today announced that the Region of Murcia will receive in the coming months the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine over 13.2 million euros, according to the resolutions adopted at the Conference on Agriculture Sector and Rural Development held in mid-April in Burgos, and chaired by the Minister Elena Espinosa and with the assistance of the directors of the branch of the Autonomous Communities.
The meeting agreed on the territorial funding for farm programs, farmers, agribusiness and rural development for which the Government of Spain devoted to the Murcia region a total of 13,254,324.66 euros.
González Tovar noted that the total, the largest amount of
EUR 7,428,326 will go to agricultural and livestock programs, 3,219,112 Fomento Agrifood Industrialization, 1,051,735 lines to Sustainable Rural Development, Livestock and Programs 1,299,041 256,006.66 for financial support for Damage caused by drought and other extraordinary circumstances.
Agricultural and Livestock Programs
The Region of Murcia will receive consideration in this chapter with 7.4 million euros, which will be distributed for Pest Control (3.89 million euros) for Improvement Sector nuts and carob (2,732,105 euros), for Promotion of New Technologies, Renewal and Rational Use of Agricultural Media (Renewal Plan) (445,000 euros) for Cluster Development Phytosanitary (351,221 euros), and Promotion of Agricultural Associations (10,000 euros).
Livestock programs specifically
In the chapter on livestock programs, the Region will receive the MARM 1.3 million euros.
Of this amount, 619,077 are for sustainable livestock production line, while others are earmarked 336,555 euros performances Improve Quality and Traceability in the livestock sectors, divided into the following programs:
Identification of Sheep and Goats: 220,102 euros.
Production Development of Quality Food Products of Animal Origin: 50,749 euros.
Improving Milk Quality of Sheep and Goats: 45,001 euros
Improving the Quality of Bovine Milk: 18,488 euros.
Cattle Identification: 2,215 euros.
Other 119,582 euros will go towards the Comprehensive National Byproducts, 113,142 euros for state control and eradication of TSEs and other diseases of animals, 79,782 euros for the Promotion of Beekeeping and EUR 20,886 for Other Plans of Management and Competitiveness livestock sector.
Plan management and development of the equine industry.
Finally, under plans for the Promotion of Selection and Dissemination of Livestock Improvement, 8,995 euros is earmarked for endangered breeds and 1,126 for genetic selection programs for resistance to TSEs in sheep.
Agribusiness
In this chapter the Region of Murcia MARM receive 3.2 million euros from the Rural Development Fund (EAFRD), according to the line for the Promotion of Agricultural and Food Industrialization, and particularly for the financing of Measure 413 "Competitiveness of the food industry and food quality."
Regarding this program, González Tovar noted "the importance of encouraging and supporting a sector of our economy that does not cross their best and yet has a strategic importance in the region both in terms of its close relationship with our agricultural production and the employment associated with it. "
Rural development
Heading 1 million euros to Murcia from the Directorate General of Sustainable Rural Development will apply to Rural Development Programmes during the 2007-2013 period covered in the different axes.
The shaft 1 is intended, among other activities aimed at the modernization of farms to young farmers and early retirement, Axis 2 agri-environment, the shaft 3 for the Improvement of Quality of Life in Rural Areas and Diversification of the Rural Economy and the shaft 4 for the Implementation of the LEADER methodology.
Credit finance
Tovar Gonzalez stressed that, finally, Murcia receive from the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine EUR 256,006 Financial Support for losses caused by drought and other extraordinary circumstances.
This money is intended to cover interest loans to owners of livestock farms.
