The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, the Director General of Family and Children of the Autonomous Region, Laura Munoz, the council of the Information Society and Social Policy of the City Lorca, Joaquin Ruiz and Lali Ibarra, this morning visited the II Caravan Proniño installed today and tomorrow in the Alameda of the Constitution by the Telefonica Foundation to raise awareness against child labor and exploitation.
Jodar has invited children and youth of the city to participate in activities intended to raise awareness in a fun and educational, between 10 and 14 hours and 16 and 20 hours, the situation being experienced by many children, Latin America and the actions that this foundation is being developed for integration in education.
In principle, the organization has provided assistance to over 500 students with tours organized by schools in the municipality.
What is the Caravan Proniño?
Proniño helps thousands of children in Latin America to change a present and an uncertain future full of possibilities.
How?
Working on the eradication of child labor, providing support to communities where they live and promoting their schooling.
To mark the International Day Against Child Labour 2008, Fundación Telefónica launched "The Proniño Caravan, a touring caravan informative whose mission was to raise public awareness about the problem of child labor in Latin America.
The Caravan Proniño visited a total of 33 Spanish cities in the 48 days of his tour, making about 15,000 miles.
Proniño Caravan 2009
In 2009, Fundación Telefónica gets back on track "The Caravan II Proniño" which will tour 31 cities in Spanish for 18 weeks of travel with the same mission, through activities, games and informative videos based on an educational project.
Schools in the cities that make up the route of the Caravan Proniño receive an invitation from Fundación Telefónica to participate in the project.
Schools interested in visiting the Caravan Proniño receive the information and materials necessary to perform the activities prior to the visit.
