Next Friday June 12th at 12:00 will be held in the central balcony of the Collegiate Church of San Patricio and the city of Lorca, the traditional civil-religious act musical occasion of the eve of the feast of Corpus , has been held in our city for hundreds of years, as we hear that already in the sixteenth century, there were clarineros and minstrels in Lorca, who collected their salaries from public funds.
According to Rosa Medina, Councillor for Culture "act involving four musicians and two clarineros minstrels, begins with the ringing of bells, alternating with three speeches each, playing the Touch of Cabildo and the March of Ministriles, music that date of the last third of the eighteenth century, interspersed before each intervention, two separate ringing of bells that play "to glory."
The aforementioned songs, harmonized and implemented by Antonio Manzanera López, Director of the Municipal Band, was declared the official anthem of the city of Lorca, by agreement of the Plenary Council at its meeting on February 23, 1994.
The instruments used in ancient times, were the trumpets and three oboes and a sackbut.
Currently, two trumpets used by clarineros and flute, clarinet, alto sax and trombone by minstrels.
