This new investment in additional works of Sector VIII joins the 21 million already invested in this project
The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, today announced that the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs (MARM) has awarded the 'Project additional works 1 of completion of the modernization of water infrastructure sector VIII of irrigated areas of Lorca and Valle Gadalentín in Lorca (Murcia), known as the Provincial and Tamarchete Cazalla Lorca, with an investment of 3.7 billion euros.
This action will complete the modernization of Cazares and Tamarchete, already finished and in which the MARM has invested 21 million euros.
In total, the Government of Spain will invest over 170 million euros in the modernization of irrigation in the town of Lorca, implying a 30% reduction in water losses.
The planned measures consist in replacing the network of channels closed conduits under pressure to allow the installation of an irrigation system located at the bottom of each plot and the piping of channels of turbid water through concrete pipes with order to take advantage of these limited water resources.
Furthermore, upon request the Community of Irrigators, is piped a number of sections of ditches 'muddy waters' in the armband Tramier Cañarejo Fonal, with a length of 2,897 meters and will widen the road Feli armband in order to encourage flow and improve road safety standards in the area.
One of the most important technological developments of this initiative is the establishment of a network of remote remote remote control that will provide centralized management of water resources.
